Guarda Wallet Security
Your recovery phrase controls the wallet. Guarda support never needs it, and this website never asks you to enter it.
What non-custodial security means
Guarda is designed as a non-custodial wallet: private-key material is created and used on the user's device rather than held in a custodial account. That removes a central custodian from day-to-day access, but it also transfers backup and transaction responsibility to the wallet owner. A lost recovery phrase can mean permanent loss of access, while a copied phrase lets another person control the associated assets.
No legitimate support agent, payment provider or blockchain validator needs your recovery phrase or private key. Do not type those secrets into a support form, chat, search result, browser extension or website. If anyone requests them, stop the conversation and use the verified support link published on Guarda's official channels.
Five checks before moving crypto
- Verify the app source. Start from the official Guarda download page and check the publisher shown by the app store or installer.
- Match the network. The sending and receiving sides must use the same blockchain. A familiar ticker is not enough because many assets exist on several networks.
- Check the address. Compare the first and last characters and use a small test transfer when an address or network is new.
- Read the transaction. Confirm the asset, amount, destination, network fee and any smart-contract approval before signing.
- Keep the backup offline. Store the recovery phrase away from screenshots, email, cloud drives and ordinary notes apps.
Hot-wallet risk and safer usage
A software wallet is connected to an internet-capable device, so device malware, phishing, malicious extensions and unsafe smart-contract approvals remain relevant risks. Keep operating systems and wallet apps updated, use a unique device password, review connected applications, and avoid signing transactions you do not understand. Users with long-term holdings may choose to separate daily spending from cold or hardware-backed storage.
Blockchain transactions are generally irreversible. Guarda cannot cancel a confirmed transfer, restore a forgotten recovery phrase or return assets sent to the wrong network. Market, smart-contract, bridge and provider risks also remain even when the wallet software works as intended.
