Why run a desktop wallet

A desktop wallet provides more screen space for reviewing addresses, fees and transaction details. It does not make self-custody risk disappear: malware, clipboard replacement, phishing and an exposed recovery phrase can still lead to loss.

Keep the operating system updated, use full-disk encryption, download from the official source and maintain an offline recovery backup. Test restoration only in a verified application and never give the phrase to support.

Using the same recovery phrase on another device can expose the same accounts there. Add devices only when necessary and understand that every restored device expands the security boundary.
